San Diego For Kids

San Diego is the perfect place for a family vacation. It has an amazing variety of exciting places to see and things to do, for grown ups as well as kids. With great weather all year round, lots of public parks, plenty of museums, and a plethora of child-friendly activities, San Diego is custom-made for families.

Animal-lovers of all ages would cherish a day or two spent watching the spectacular, rare animals at the San Diego Animal Park and the San Diego zoo. There is so much to see at the park and the zoo, you should plan on spending the entire day here taking in the wondrous sights of rare animals in their almost-natural environment. If your kids don’t like the idea of seeing animals in cages or enclosures in the zoo, the park is a excellent alternative.

Sea World is another popular favorite among all aged kids. Sea World is a veritable fest for your eyes with an amazing variety of marine exhibits including Shamu- the killer whale. Sea World is almost an educational tour for kids as they see marine life like they never have before.

Whale watching is the most popular winter activity in San Diego. You can either take a cruise to watch these awesome mammals swim by or you could indulge in this spectacular activity from several points along the coastline. Whale watching is as educational as it is entertaining for kids and adults alike.

Balboa Park is yet another great place for kids. There are plenty of places for them to explore and see including the Natural history Museum, the Fleet Science Center and the children’s museum.

Legoland California, situated north of San Diego is Lego heaven for kids. Almost everything out in the park has been constructed from Lego blocks and it is a sight to see. Lego-loving kids would have a field day trying to figure out the intricacies of the almost-impossible-to-build structures. This is a great place for younger kids.

Hit the pulsating San Diego beaches where kids can rent boogie boards, have sandcastle-building competitions or just spend the day swimming in the irresistible waters.

For older kids, there’s that most popular of all San Diego sports- roller-blading and roller-skating. There are plenty of great roller-skating opportunities in the parks and playgrounds along Mission Bay. For something out of the ordinary you could indulge in a bit of kite-flying too.

San Diego has plenty of amusement parks, the most popular of which is Belmont Park. Kids can spend hours here sampling the many rides and fun activities. The Plunge and the Giant Dipper are the favorite among kids of all ages.

You should put San Diego on top of your list of potential family vacations. There lots of exciting things for kids of all ages. You can happily go off and do your own thing knowing that they have plenty to keep them occupied while you are away.
